Haiku, the Robot

Haiku, the Robot (2022) is a solo-dev indie metroidvania by Mister Morris Games. The adorable (and titular) Haiku must explore the ruined land of Arcadia, meeting a wide variety of similarly poetical robots along the way. Haiku must unlock the Mainframe Vault at the center of the world to confront what lies within...

The game takes about 8-10 hours to fully complete, depending on your pace, making it relatively easy to jump into speedrunning, and there are relatively few breaking skips that MUST be learned in order to put up runs. However, there is still a lot to practice and refine when it comes to runs, thanks to the core heat system which must be managed in both movement and combat to keep Haiku going fast. RNG in the run is generally manageable, although at the top level there are some 50/50s that *must* be hit in order to achieve world record, specifically when it comes to boss attack patterns. All in all, Haiku is an excellent first metroidvania and first speedgame!
